Swimming
Get down off mountain, into the cool waters of the Zeller See. With its beautiful promenades and cosy bathing beaches, the lake invites you to relax, swim and enjoy. All the lidos offer a great view of the surrounding mountains and a lot of action for the whole family. The special thing about Lake Zell is that, unlike other lakes, large parts of the shore are open to the public. Public lake accesses also invite you to sunbathe and swim.
Stand up paddling
Learn how to paddle properly: For all children who are already able to swim. SUP is the perfect sport for all spontaneous people, because basically no special knowledge is required. In addition, it is a great full-body workout for the whole family, where you can exercise your balance with lots of fun. With a SUP you can discover beautiful secluded places of Lake Zell and the diversity of aquatic life. SUPs can be rented at any of the beach baths and around Lake Zell. Of course there is also the possibility of a canoe or kayak tour on Lake Zell. Small tip: Rub well with sunscreen before the start – the strength of the sun often gets underestimated in the middle of the lake!
Boat tours
Rich in views, comfortable, nostalgic – a boat ride on Lake Zell. Where do you get the best view of the Zell am See peninsula? There is a place in Zell am See-Kaprun from which you can enjoy the best views of the historic old town and the beautiful buildings, the alpine landscape behind it, the snow-covered mountains of the Hohe Tauern and the lush green slopes of the Pinzgauer Grasberge. Magic Lake Night
The water, light, music & laser show at Lake Zell. Every Tuesday and Thursday at 9 p. m. your senses will be enchanted on the banks of Lake Zell. Now is the time for a special show for eyes, ears and a lot of emotion. Be surprised when light and water dance harmoniously to the different themes of the show. The duration of each show is about 20 minutes with free admission.
Sigmund Thun Gorge
This intoxicating natural monument is one of the most beautiful gorges in the state of Salzburg and impresses with a maximum depth of 32 m and a length of 320 m. A walk through beautifully fortified wooden platforms invites young and old to take a trip to this magical place. You will feel the power of the water at every step and learn exciting things about the Klammsee near Kaprun on the natural history trail. On certain evenings, the Sigmund Thun Gorge is illuminated in a magical and breathtaking way and shines in a unique shine. Walk through the magically illuminated gorge and experience a nature festival game enchanted by colorful light and roaring water. In the Salzburger Land there are many gorges worth seeing, all of them show a breathtaking spectacle of nature.
High mountain reservoirs
Like two fjords, the two reservoirs, "Wasserfallboden" and "Mooserboden", lie in the back of Kaprun valley. Nestled between the highest peaks of the Alps, on the border to the Hohe Tauern National Park. Take a look at the overwhelming technical performance achieved here in the middle of the Alps during an informative tour of the dam. Here, the power of water and the possibilities of generating electricity from hydropower are conveyed up close.
Krimmler waterfalls
The WasserWelten Krimml and the 380m high waterfalls are a particularly worthwhile excursion destination in the Salzburger Land. Over the three case stages with an overall drop height of 380 m, 5. 6 m3 of water per second falls into the valley. The refreshing spray of the Krimmler waterfalls amidst the dreamlike scenery of the Hohe Tauern National Park inspires young and old. In the water worlds you can find several attractions such as: waterfall centre with the underwater experience world Aquaszenarium, House of water: exhibition with exciting experiments, outdoor area Aquapark and the highlight: the Krimmler waterfalls, the highest waterfalls in Europe with barrier-accessible viewpoint (suitable for prams), waterfall path and viewing platforms.
